Two Poltava clinic accountants suspected of embezzling UAH 13 million
Two accountants from a polyclinic in Poltava are suspected of embezzling almost 13 million hryvnias of budget funds. According to the investigation , the women entered false information about salaries and the number of employees into documents.
This is stated on the website of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, during 2022-2024, women, while working in positions, entered false information into the tariff lists regarding the number of people employed and the amount of payments. Thus, the payroll was increased, from which 21 employees of the polyclinic received unjustified overstated salaries. People returned part of the money to the chief accountant.
As law enforcement officers established, the municipal institution suffered almost 13 million hryvnias in damages, of which more than 3 million hryvnias were received by the former chief accountant.
The former chief accountant of the Poltava hospital and her deputy were reported on suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 "Embezzlement and misappropriation of funds in especially large amounts", Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 "Drawing up and issuing knowingly false official documents committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum sanction under the articles is imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years and confiscation of property.
