The High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced People's Deputy Anatoly Hunko to seven years in prison with confiscation of all property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions. He was found guilty of receiving an illegal benefit of $85,000.

This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Center. Until the sentence becomes legally binding, Gunko will be required to wear an electronic bracelet.

"The verdict was passed by judges Tetyana Kryklyva, Olga Salandyak and Vitaliy Dubas. The case has been in court since February 2024. During this time, more than 30 court hearings were scheduled, during which evidence was examined, witnesses and the accused were questioned, the parties' speeches in the debates and Hunka's last word were heard. During the interrogation, the People's Deputy admitted to receiving a bribe. But the defense insisted on provocation, due to which the accused committed such unlawful actions."

The prosecutor requested eight years in prison for Hunko with confiscation of property and the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet until the sentence becomes final. In his final statement, Hunko asked to be acquitted.

According to the prosecution, the People's Deputy, in collusion with his assistant Igor Kalinichenko and another accomplice, demanded and received part of the illegal benefit from a representative of the agricultural company "Agroform-2019".

"The Khabar was demanded in exchange for permission to cultivate state lands. At the same time, $130 had to be paid for each hectare of state land. In total, it was about $221,000, of which a deposit of $85,000 had to be transferred. Regarding the accused Kalinichenko, the proceedings were suspended in November 2024 due to his mobilization."

Hunko was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 15 (Attempt to commit a criminal offense), Part 2 of Article 28 (Commitment of a criminal offense by a group of persons), Part 4 of Article 190 (Fraud) and Part 4 of Article 27 (Types of accomplices), Part 2 of Article 15 (Attempt to commit a criminal offense), Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Offer, promise or provision of an unlawful benefit to an official), the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reports.
