Ivano-Frankivsk police official suspected of property appropriation

A police officer was exposed in the Ivano-Frankivsk region for illegally re-registering the apartment of a relative of a woman who died at Azovstal. He is the deputy head of the security police department in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
According to the investigation, during the full-scale war, he took possession of the money of his relative - the father of a National Guard servicewoman, a cousin of a police officer who died at Azovstal in April 2022.
Her father was entitled to a one-time state benefit of 7.5 million hryvnias. However, the policeman decided to embezzle some of the money. To gain trust, he got a relative a job at the security police department, and later convinced him to buy an apartment in Ivano-Frankivsk with the state benefit money.
More than 2.6 million hryvnias were paid for an apartment with an area of 110 m2. At the initiative of the policeman, the contract with the developer was drawn up in the name of his mother. The father of the deceased defender did not know about this and was convinced that the housing was being drawn up in his name. After the renovation was completed, the law enforcement officer moved into the apartment with his family. Investigators informed the police officer of suspicion of taking someone else's property by deception and breach of trust, committed on a particularly large scale (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to 12 years in prison. Soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him and remove him from his position in the police.
