Police Detain MSEC Official for Bribery to Help Draft Dodger
The deputy head doctor of the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) of the Ministry of Health was detained in Kyiv while receiving a bribe, the National Police reported.
According to the investigation, the official promised for $2,000 to help the conscript get a II group disability, which would allow him to avoid mobilization and go abroad.
The figure assured that she had solved such "problematic issues" many times thanks to her position. This was confirmed during the investigation
The woman was detained while receiving a bribe. During the search, almost 20,000 dollars, disability registration documents, medical records, personal files and other evidence were seized from her. The detainee was charged with abuse of influence (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The maximum punishment under this article is up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
We will remind you that at the end of October, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a decree that puts into effect the decision to liquidate all medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) and prosecute officials suspected of corruption schemes. The liquidation of MSEK will begin on December 31, 2024 after the adoption of the relevant draft law.
Earlier, we also reported that in 2024, 64 MSEC employees were suspected of committing crimes, and 9 people have already been convicted . In addition, 4,106 fictitious disability certificates, which were issued on the basis of forged documents, were cancelled.
