Man Trying to Cross into Moldova by Inflatable Boat Detained

The Southern Regional Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported the detention of two men, one of whom tried to cross the Dniester river to Moldova on a rubber boat.

According to information, a 31-year-old resident of the border area decided to make money by illegally transporting people across the border. Through the closed channels of social networks, he found a client - a 23-year-old resident of Vinnytsia.

It was planned that the ferryman would meet the "passenger", take him to the river bank and cross the border in a rubber boat. He asked for 2 thousand US dollars for his services.

However, during the preparation of the craft, their plans were destroyed. Realizing they were exposed, the partisans attempted to flee, but warning shots quickly dampened their ardor.

The men were brought to administrative responsibility under Part 2 of Art. 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. In addition, for disobeying the legal requirements of the law enforcement officers, protocols were drawn up on both offenders under Art. 185-10 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Cases have been sent to court. The shipper was also charged with committing a crime under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Earlier, SSU employees with the support of the SSU informed about the suspicion of a law enforcement officer of the Odesa region who tried to create an illegal channel to transport conscripted men to the unrecognized Prydnistrov'ya, the SSU reported.
