The specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office initiated the confiscation of property worth almost UAH 8.7 million from the relatives of Taras Polienko, the deputy head of the National Police of Kyiv, according to "Scheme".

It is noted that prosecutors took such a step after a journalistic investigation of the "Schemes" program. On the basis of the materials of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, they filed a lawsuit for the "recognition of unfounded" assets to the HACC.

As established by the prosecutor's office, the result of the analysis of the income and expenses of Polienko and his family members testified that it was impossible to obtain property from legal income.

According to the investigation, the official's mother-in-law - Valentina Tkachenko - officially earned 100 hryvnias since 1998, and retired in 2014 and currently receives less than three thousand hryvnias a month. Her husband receives a similar pension.

However, a two-story penthouse and two parking spaces in a business-class residential complex in Kyiv were recorded on them. The policeman's wife claims that her mother earned money by selling flowers, the family also had a Volga, which was comparable in value to an apartment in the capital."

"After the acquisition of these assets, they were used by the official and his family, not by a relative, which, together with other data, indicates that she acquired them on the authority of the official," the journalists reported.

The NACP notes that after the investigation, Polienko's mother-in-law sold the apartments. In this regard, prosecutors are asking the court to recognize an apartment with an area of ​​220 square meters as "unsubstantiated assets". m. and parking spaces, income from the sale of apartments, and charge it all to the state treasury.
