The judge of Sumy was sentenced to 7 years for a bribe of 2,000 dollars
Seven years for $2,000.
The panel of judges of the Supreme Administrative Court passed the verdict and found Judge Mykola Zarichny of the Sumy District Court guilty of the criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 7 years, and as an additional punishment, the court deprived him of the right to hold positions in judicial authorities for a period of 3 years and confiscated all property owned by him.

The accused judge Mykola Shershak was taken into custody pending the execution of the sentence.
On February 14, 2020, the SAP sent the indictment against Mykola Shershak to the court. According to the investigation, the judge expressed a request to give an illegal benefit to the citizen for issuing a decision not to bring him to administrative responsibility. On November 7, 2019, he was exposed "in the heat of the moment" and the next day was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Summer District Court of Sumy received an administrative report on prosecution of Vitaly Shutka for driving a car while intoxicated. After that, judge Mykola Shershak allegedly asked Vitaly Shutka for money for not bringing him to justice in this administrative case.
On November 6, 2019, according to the investigation, this money was received by the judge. Detectives found 1,700 dollars in the house of judge Mykola Shershak, and another 300 dollars during his personal care.
