Illegal Wealth Found in MIA Service Center Head's Assets
The National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) has identified signs of illicit enrichment of one of the heads of the territorial service center of the Regional Service Center of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. According to media reports, this is Negai Yuriy, the head of the territorial service center of the regional service center of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Vinnytsia region.
The NACP notes that monitoring of the official's lifestyle was initiated based on the results of self-identified circumstances.
The investigation found that the official purchased a number of vehicles at undervalued prices between 2021 and 2023 and sold them at significantly higher prices, making a significant financial profit. The declarant's close associates were also involved in this scheme.
In cooperation with the Asset Management and Tracing Agency (AMTA), it was revealed that during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in March 2022, the official purchased five apartments in the resort cities of Georgia - Batumi and Bakuriani. The total area of the real estate objects is from 37 to 87 sq. m, and their cost is from 30 to 82 thousand dollars. The total value of these purchases exceeds UAH 7.19 million.
In total, the official and his family's expenses for the purchase of movable and immovable property amount to almost UAH 20 million. At the same time, the NACP established the absence of legitimate income that could provide for such financial expenses.
Materials regarding the head of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for further entry of information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal enrichment).
We previously wrote that the head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, refused to comment on information that he probably lives in a premium residential complex in a 170 square meter apartment worth 17.7 million hryvnias, which belongs to his retired mother-in-law.
In addition, the son of the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov, Artur Lazarenko, purchased a plot of land in the Kyiv region at a price that was three times lower than the cost price. On the plot in the village of Khodosivka, 27-year-old Lazarenko is completing a large estate, with an area of about 300 sq. m.
