Contractor suspected of losses in Odesa theater repair

The director of the contracting company and the technical supervision engineer were reported suspicious due to losses of almost half a million hryvnias during the renovation of the Odessa Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after V. Vasylko.
This was reported by the press services of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region.
According to the investigation, in 2021, the municipal enterprise entered into a contract with a private construction company for the restoration of the theater's facades and with a certified engineer who carried out technical supervision of the work.
Law enforcement officers believe that the director of the company overstated the volume and cost of the work performed in the documents, which led to an unnecessary transfer of funds from the regional budget. In turn, the technical supervision engineer, according to the police, improperly checked the work performed and signed the acceptance certificates.
The company director was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — misappropriation of property by abuse of official position on a large scale and Part 1 of Article 366 — official forgery. The suspect faces up to 8 years of imprisonment and restriction of the right to hold certain positions. The court chose for her a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 99,840, which she took advantage of.
The technical supervision engineer was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — official negligence. The article provides for a penalty of up to 5 years of imprisonment with restriction of the right to hold certain positions. He was sentenced to night house arrest.
As a reminder, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) exposed a policeman in fraud with a military man.
