HACC sentences ex-Kherson official in UAH 7.7M case

The High Anti-Corruption Court found the former head of one of the departments of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, the owner and director of a private company, guilty of embezzling UAH 7.7 million in state funds.
This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. According to media reports, this concerns the former director of the Territorial Development Department of the Kherson Regional Administrative Organization Svitlana Vasina, the owner of "Building Technologies South" Marina Balan, and the head of this company Valentyn Balan. This case was under consideration by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
On April 20, 2026, the HACC announced the verdict against the former head of one of the departments of the Kherson Regional State Administration, the owner and director of a private company. The individuals were found guilty of embezzling UAH 7.7 million of state funds while providing services for the inspection of facilities in the Kherson region damaged as a result of the Russian military aggression.
Vasina was sentenced to 7 years and 2 months in prison. The owner of the company "Construction Technologies South" Balan was sentenced to 7 years and 1 month in prison, and the company's manager Balan was sentenced to 7 years in prison. All property belonging to them by right of ownership was confiscated from the convicts, and they were also deprived of the right to hold certain positions for a period of 2 years.
The verdict of the Supreme Court of Justice may be appealed within 30 days from the date of its pronouncement by filing an appeal with the Supreme Court of Justice Appeals Chamber.
