Supreme Court to Hear Appeals in Ex-Road Chief’s Case

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on September 15 on appeals against the verdict, which found the former director of the state enterprise "Agency for Local Roads of Poltava Region", Oleksiy Basan, guilty of misuse of funds.
As is known, the High Anti-Corruption Court acquitted Basan due to the absence of elements of a crime in his actions. The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office filed an appeal against this verdict.
The Appeals Chamber of the HACC found Basan guilty of misuse of budget funds. He was sentenced to 2 years of service restriction with a deduction of 20% from the amount of monetary support to the state income and deprivation of the right to hold positions and engage in activities related to organizational, managerial and administrative and economic functions at enterprises, institutions and organizations of state and municipal property for a period of 2 years. Basan's defense lawyer and the SAPO prosecutor filed complaints against this verdict.
To complete the preparation and schedule the cassation hearing of the criminal proceedings against (Basan) based on the cassation appeals of his defense attorney, as well as the SAPO prosecutor who participated in the criminal proceedings in the court of appeal, against the verdict of the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of January 27, 2026, at 12:00 on September 15, 2026

Earlier, the HACC also began considering the case against an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, Artem Shyl, his former subordinate Oleksandr Kovaluk, and two other individuals for misappropriating funds of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and legalizing property obtained by criminal means.
