Supreme Court upholds sentence for ex-RMA deputy head

The Cassation Criminal Court has finally sentenced Ihor Haiduk, the former deputy head of the Ternopil Oblast Administrative District, to 8 years in prison after he was caught demanding a bribe of UAH 1.8 million. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported this.
Ihor Haiduk, together with another deputy head of the LLC, Ihor Demyanchuk, were exposed in June 2023. Officials demanded UAH 1.8 million from a local entrepreneur to pay for the debt of the Ternopil administration to the company for road repairs, which this company had already completed long ago. In addition, the work was accepted in 2022. Also, in exchange for a bribe, the officials promised to facilitate the conclusion of new and financing of existing contracts with the company.
However, the businessman turned to law enforcement agencies. During the investigation, it turned out that the head of the Ternopil Regional Council, Mykhailo Golovko, was also involved in the bribery. He received 9 years in prison, but was released on bail of 15 million UAH.
In March 2025, the HACC found Ihor Haiduk guilty of bribery under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 8 years and 2 months in prison with a disqualification from holding public office for 3 years. The court also confiscated Ihor Haiduk's Toyota Avensis.
In July 2025, this sentence was confirmed by the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court, and on March 26, by the Supreme Court. Therefore, Ihor Haiduk will serve his sentence in prison.
