Supreme Court upheld sentence for ex-judge Krentzel image

The Supreme Court upheld the verdict sentencing the former head of the Koziv District Court of Ternopil Region, Mykhailo Krentsel, and lawyer Natalia Lisna, to 5 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

As is known, the High Anti-Corruption Court found the former head of the Koziv District Court of Ternopil region, Krentzel, and lawyer Lisna guilty of bribery. They were sentenced to 6 and 5 years in prison, respectively. The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court upheld the verdict, but reduced Krentzel's sentence to 5 years. The defense filed cassation appeals.

On April 7, 2025, the Cassation Criminal Court of the Supreme Court ruled to leave unchanged the verdict of the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals dated September 2, 2021 and the resolution of the Administrative Court of the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals dated May 16, 2024, by which the former head of the Koziv District Court of Ternopil region M. Krentzel and lawyer N. Lisna were found guilty of receiving 2 thousand US dollars of unlawful benefit for issuing a decision in favor of a third person to refuse to satisfy the application of the Criminal Enforcement Inspectorate to cancel her release from probation (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The Supreme Court agreed with the arguments of the SAPO prosecutor, rejected the cassation appeals of the defense and confirmed the legality of the court decisions. The specified decision was adopted with a separate opinion of two judges of the panel
