Bail in the amount of 18 million hryvnias was posted for the former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Smirnov.

This was reported by a number of Ukrainian media outlets, citing Olesia Chemerys, the press secretary of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC).

Bail was posted for the former deputy head of the President's Office in full, which was previously set by the investigating judge of the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals.

- she told reporters.

He was given the following obligations: to appear upon every request; to report any change in his place of residence and work; to refrain from communicating with persons specified in the court order and to hand over his foreign passports for safekeeping.

As reported, the Supreme Court of Ukraine has chosen a preventive measure in the form of arrest for the former deputy head of the Oblast Police Smirnov with the possibility of posting a bail of 18 million hryvnias in the case of legalization of illegally acquired assets. The point is that in 2019-2021, the high-ranking official allegedly legalized illegally acquired funds by building private houses with a total area of over 300 sq. m, located in a recreational zone in the Odessa region.

According to the investigation, Smirnov transferred almost 6.5 million hryvnias for the construction of facilities, and despite the fact that the specified facilities were actually used by a high-ranking official, ownership of them was registered with the company.
