Anti-Corruption Court Approves Deal with Odesa District Council Head

The HIgh Anti-Corruption Court has approved a plea agreement entered into by former MP and head of the Odessa District Council of the Odessa region, Vitaliy Barvinenko. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison on probation.
This was reported by the press service of the HACC, without specifying the name of the person involved.
According to media reports, this is Barvinenko, who was released from the main sentence for a probationary period of 3 years.
On February 20, 2025, the Supreme Court of Criminal Procedure approved a plea agreement in the case of abuse of power by a former People's Deputy of Ukraine, which caused serious consequences for state interests protected by law. The former People's Deputy compensated for the damages caused. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison with the application of the provisions of Part 2 of Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with deprivation of the right to hold positions in state authorities for 1 year and a fine. Under the terms of the agreement, the accused also undertakes to transfer UAH 2,503,000 to support the army
Vitaliy Barvinenko is a suspect in the EBK database.
As a reminder, NABU and SAPO informed Barvinenko of the suspicion. According to the investigation, despite having his own housing in the capital, the people's deputy continued to use the hotel room of the state-owned enterprise "Hotel Complex "Kyiv" without legal grounds. As a result, from September 2016 to March 2019, he illegally received over 613 thousand UAH in compensation for housing rental.
