HACC Appeals Chamber Upholds Sentence Against Former Volyn Council Member
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the verdict sentencing former Volyn Regional Council deputy Valentyn Koshelnyk to 3.5 years in prison for abuse of influence.

According to "Slovo i Dilo", it is about Koshelnyk. As is known, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court found Koshelnyk, a former deputy of the Volyn Regional Council, guilty. He was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison with a three-year ban on holding positions in state and local government bodies. The court ruled to take the former deputy into custody before the verdict becomes final.
On October 28, 2026, the AC of the HACC upheld the verdict of the HACC of May 14, 2026, by which the former deputy of the Volyn Regional Council was found guilty of receiving unlawful benefit (Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court of first instance sentenced the specified person to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of 3 years. The accused was also subject to special confiscation of funds in the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars at the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine at the time of collection.
The decision entered into force from the moment of its announcement and can be appealed to the Criminal Court of Cassation within 3 months.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO exposed a deputy of the Volyn regional council. The deputy was indicted for receiving illegal benefits in the amount of 35 thousand dollars. For this money, he promised to assist a citizen in purchasing a land plot located in one of the territorial communities of the Volyn region, to create a waste disposal enterprise on it. Later, the deputy was informed of suspicion of abuse of influence.
