Appeal Upholds Verdict Against Mariupol Judge image

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has upheld the verdict , which found Igor Sarayev, a judge of the Primorsky District Court of Mariupol, Donetsk region, and his assistant Tatyana Zolotar guilty of accepting a bribe. This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

As is known, the anti-corruption court sentenced Mariupol judge Sarayev to 7.5 years in prison, and his assistant to 6 years. They were tried in absentia because they are wanted. The defense filed an appeal.

On May 13, 2025, the Appeals Chamber of the HACC supported the position of the SAPO prosecutor, refused the defense to satisfy the appeal and left unchanged the verdict of the Supreme Administrative Court of November 21, 2024, by which the judge of the Primorsky District Court of the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, I. Sarayeva and his assistant T. Zolotar were sentenced to actual imprisonment. The decision of the Appeals Chamber of the HACC enters into force from the moment of its announcement and can be appealed to the Supreme Court

Recall, according to the prosecution, the judge of the Primorsky District Court of Mariupol, Ihor Sarayev, together with his assistant Tetyana Zolotar, requested and received 15 thousand hryvnias of illegal gain for issuing a decision in a case of an administrative offense. The money was transferred in two tranches. Immediately after the transfer of the second part of the illegal gain, the judge was caught red-handed. According to the investigation, Zolotar was Sarayev's accomplice in receiving a bribe. Part of the illegal gain was found in the assistant judge's home during a search.
