Appeal to review MP Hunko’s sentence on May 20

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled a hearing for May 20 to consider an appeal against the verdict sentencing People's Deputy Anatoliy Hunko to 7 years in prison for incitement to bribery and fraud.
The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine made this decision on May 6, reports Slovo i Dilo.
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court found Hunko guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in prison with a 3-year ban on holding certain positions and confiscation of all his property. The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and Hunko's defense lawyers filed appeals.

Earlier, the SAPO sent an indictment to the court against People's Deputy Anatoly Hunko and his assistant. According to the prosecution, Hunko, in collusion with his assistant Igor Kalinichenko and another accomplice Volodymyr Ivasyk, demanded and received an illegal benefit from Nikulin, a representative of the agricultural enterprise Agroform-2019 LLC.
They received funds for providing state lands for cultivation. These lands are used by research farms from the structure of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences. In particular, it was about the household "Tuchynske", located in the village of Tuchyn, Rivne region. As the prosecutor claimed, it was necessary to pay $ 130 for each hectare of land. In total, it was about 1,700 hectares for $ 221 thousand. Of this amount, it was necessary to transfer a deposit of $ 85 thousand, and the rest - after the harvest.
