HACC to Hear Appeal on Judge Sarayev’s Bribery Conviction
The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled a hearing for February 13 to consider an appeal against the verdict, which found Igor Sarayev, a judge of the Primorsky District Court of the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, and his assistant Tetyana Zolotar, guilty of accepting a bribe.
As is known, the anti-corruption court sentenced Mariupol judge Sarayev to 7.5 years in prison, and his assistant to 6 years. They were tried in absentia because they are wanted. The defense filed an appeal.

Recall, according to the prosecution, the judge of the Primorsky District Court of Mariupol, Ihor Sarayev, together with his assistant Tetyana Zolotar, requested and received 15 thousand hryvnias of illegal gain for issuing a decision in a case of an administrative offense. The money was transferred in two tranches. Immediately after the transfer of the second part of the illegal gain, the judge was caught red-handed.
According to the investigation, Zolotar was Sarayev's accomplice in receiving the bribe. Part of the illegal gain was found in the assistant judge's home during a search.
Earlier it became known that the court continued the investigation into the case of a judge from the Dnipropetrovsk region.
