Court Extends Investigation of Dnipro Judge's Case image

The High Anti-Corruption Court has extended the investigation period of the case on suspicion of the head of the Verkhniodniprovskyi District Court of Dnipropetrovsk region, Serhiy Burkhan, and his accomplice, Oleksiy Bilyashevich, in receiving $2,500 in illegal gain until February 25, 2024. As is known, the Anti-Corruption Court extended the investigation period of Judge Burkhan until December 25. Due to the approaching end date of the investigation, the NABU detective requested to continue the investigation again.

The petition of the senior detective of the NABU shall be granted. The term of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on suspicion of (Burkhan – ed.) in committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code, and on suspicion of (Bilyashevich – ed.) in committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code, shall be extended up to ten months, i.e. until February 25, 2025

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO exposed the head of the Verkhniodniprovskyi District Court of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Serhiy Burkhan, and an accomplice "red-handed". The investigation established that the head of the court, acting through mediation with another person, received $2,500 from a citizen for lifting the arrest on property that was seized within the framework of criminal proceedings. Law enforcement agencies documented the receipt of the specified funds through an intermediary and the subsequent decision in favor of the person.
