The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court took into custody former judge of the Leninsky District Court of Poltava, Serhiy Kononenko, who was sentenced to 6 years in prison for bribery.

As is known, the anti-corruption court found Kononenko guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison. He was given the following obligations: to appear before the court upon every request; not to leave Poltava without the court's permission, except for going to the point of permanent deployment of a military unit; to notify the court of a change in his place of residence and place of work (service); to leave his foreign passports in safekeeping.

The SAPO prosecutor filed a motion to extend the duties imposed on Kononenko. However, the defense initially requested a postponement of the court hearings due to the accused's illness, and then the accused himself failed to appear without reason. Therefore, the duties expired, and the prosecutor filed a motion to arrest Kononenko and collect his bail to the state revenue.

The prosecutor's motion to change the preventive measure and turn the bail into state revenue is partially granted. To apply a preventive measure in the form of detention to the accused (Kononenko - ed.), taking him into custody in the courtroom for a period of 60 days, i.e. until February 27, 2025 inclusive. To increase the amount of bail for the accused by UAH 500,000 and set its amount at UAH 714,720

– the decision states.
