The Pechersk Court of Kyiv has suspended Vitaliy Tebyekin from his position as a detective of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). He is suspected of falsely declaring his property. He was also assigned a preventive measure in the form of bail and a personal bond. According to the investigation, NABU detective Vitaliy Tebyekin declared an apartment in Uzhgorod with violations. The detective's wife uses it to live in the city. Vitaliy Tebyekin and his wife bought the apartment together.

Tebyekin himself did not admit his guilt and stated that the declaration procedure had been followed.

Prosecutors in the case asked the court for bail of over 4 million hryvnias and a personal obligation in the form of a notice to leave the place of residence and arrive at the prosecutor's request.

Lawyer Vitalia Tebyekina asked the prosecutors to deny the motion, since the procedure for declaring property was followed. During the hearing, the lawyer called the bail amount disproportionate, since her client has a wife and two children to support.

Prosecutors in the case also informed the court of the need for a preventive measure because there is a risk of the detective's escape or pressure on witnesses. Vitaliy Tebkin may flee, allegedly to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine to his mother. Tebkin's lawyer said that he cannot escape, because he is an employee of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.

The court set bail at over 2.9 million hryvnias and a personal obligation to appear at the prosecutor's request, notify him of a change of residence and work. Vitaliy Tebyekin must also surrender his international passport.
