The court sentenced former MP Iryna Kormyshkina and her husband

The High Anti-Corruption Court has sentenced former MP from the Servant of the People party Iryna Kormyshkina (Allahverdieva), as well as her husband, businessman Yuriy Kormyshkin, accused of illegal enrichment. They were each sentenced to 5 years of suspended sentence and a 22 million UAH fine, the SAPO press service reported on Friday, March 21.

Although the SAPO press service did not specify the names of the defendants, the report states that the Supreme Court of Ukraine has approved a plea agreement concluded between the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the former deputy and her husband. As a reminder, on March 14, Transparency International Ukraine reported that it was former People's Deputy Iryna Kormyshkina who pleaded guilty and made a plea agreement with the investigation.

According to the agreement, the court found the former MP guilty under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code (declaration of false information) and Part 1 of Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code (illicit enrichment). Her husband was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code (legalization, laundering of proceeds of crime) and Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code (declaration of false information).

The court sentenced Iryna Kormyshkina to a suspended sentence of 5 years with a probationary period of 2 years. In addition, the former police officer was deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of state or local government functions for two years and ordered to pay a fine of 68 thousand UAH. Yuriy Kormyshkin was also sentenced to five years of suspended sentence with a deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for two years.

In addition, the couple was ordered to transfer UAH 20 million to the state budget, as well as UAH 2 million for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that Kormyshkin's sentence can be appealed to the Court of Appeal within 30 days.

Recall, recently Iryna Kormyshkina and her husband pleaded guilty and entered into a plea agreement with the investigation.
