Ex-Defense official arrested in army food supply case

The High Anti-Corruption Court has placed the former head of the Department for Material Support of the Ministry of Defense, Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, under night house arrest.

NABU and SAPO suspect him of involvement in the case of embezzlement of funds for the supply of food to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This decision was made on April 15 by investigative judge Volodymyr Voronko of the Supreme Court of Criminal Procedure.

The motion is partially granted. To apply a preventive measure in the form of house arrest to the suspect Khmelnytskyi Bohdan Volodymyrovych, prohibiting the latter from leaving his place of residence between 00:00 and 06:00

The suspect was also given the following obligations: to appear upon every request; not to leave the city in which he is registered and resides; to refrain from communicating with other suspects and witnesses; to report any change of residence and place of work; and to surrender his passport.

Later, Judge Voronko of the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine applied a preventive measure to another suspect in this case, namely to the director of the company "OK LAND FOOD" Larisa Shvets. She was set a bail of UAH 1.2 million with the following obligations: to appear upon every request; not to leave the Kyiv region and Kyiv without permission; to refrain from communicating with other suspects and witnesses; to report any change of place of residence and place of work; to surrender her international passport.

Bohdan Khmelnytskyi is a suspect in the EBK database.

Previously, NABU and SAPO reported suspicions to the former head of a department of the Ministry of Defense, the owner and directors of supplier companies, as well as an individual involved in the embezzlement of state funds for the Ministry of Defense's procurement of food products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine .

We will remind you that the scandal with the procurement of products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine occurred in January 2023. Then the media managed to find out that the Ministry of Defense concluded an agreement with "Aktiv Company" for 13.16 billion UAH. to provide food for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the documents, the price of one chicken egg was 17 UAH.

It was previously reported that NABU has put businesswoman Tetyana Hlyniana on the wanted list , who is also a suspect in this case.
