HACC cuts bail for ex-Ukrzaliznytsia official image

The High Anti-Corruption Court extended the detention of Roman Zheliznyak, the former head of the production structural unit "Cherkasy Track Repair and Mechanical Plant" of the branch "Center for Repair and Operation of Tracked Vehicles" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" until June 3 inclusive.

This decision was made by the Supreme Court of Ukraine.

As is known, the anti-corruption court extended Zheliznyak's arrest. An alternative was set at UAH 5 million in bail. Later, the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail to UAH 3 million. The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requested to extend the arrest for another two months and leave the alternative at UAH 3 million in bail.

The request of the SAPO prosecutor to extend the term of detention of the suspect (Zheliznyak - ed.) in criminal proceedings is partially granted. The term of the preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect is extended until June 3, 2025 inclusive. Bail is set for the suspect in the amount of UAH 1,500,000.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO detained the former head of the Ukrzaliznytsia branch. According to the investigation, during 2021–2022, an organized group took possession of the funds of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia by abusing their official position by officials of the Cherkasy KRMZ branch of the Central Railways of Ukraine. Five members of the organized group were informed of the suspicion.
