In Cherkasy region, the SІU detained the secretary of the Ukrainian Communist League while accepting a bribe. The head of the military medical commission is also among the suspects.

According to the SІU, the suspects were trading in fake medical documents, Kateryna Droga, spokeswoman for the Security Service of Ukraine for the Cherkasy region, told the media.

According to the spokeswoman, the secretary of the Military Medical Commission and the chief physician of one of the medical institutions in the Cherkasy region are suspected of organizing a scheme to evade mobilization. According to the investigation, the deal was organized by the head of one of the military medical commissions in the region together with the secretary.

Officials of one of the MMCs traded fake medical documents to obtain illegal deferrals of military service during mobilization to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The suspects took money for issuing fake advisory opinions that give the right to deferral. The secretary of the MMC was engaged in "recruiting" clients and transferring funds. The head doctor provided advice to evaders on how to pass the MMC, what complaints should be made in order to obtain fictitious certificates of deferral from mobilization

— Kateryna Droga detailed.

According to the investigation, the doctors issued over a hundred fake medical certificates:

The cost of their services was estimated at 40 thousand hryvnias. According to operational data, they managed to issue more than 100 fake medical certificates for evaders.

The suspects were detained and reported on suspicions, Kateryna Droga noted:

Law enforcement officers detained the secretary of the MMC "red-handed" while receiving part of the bribe. During searches, money was found in the detainee's possession and in the office of the head of the MMC. Based on the collected evidence, both of them were informed of suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine

This concerns part three of Article 368 - acceptance of an offer, promise, or receipt of an improper benefit by an official in prior collusion with a group of persons, and part three of Article 369-2 - abuse of influence, the spokeswoman detailed.

If the suspects are proven guilty in court, they face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
