Kropyvnytskyi MMC Secretary Suspected of Bribe Extortion

In Kropyvnytskyi, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the police, detained the secretary of the garrison Military Medical Commission (MMC), who is suspected of extorting bribes from servicemen who were injured during hostilities at the front. She was detained on June 6. The Podilskyi District Court of Kropyvnytskyi chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of a bail of 181,680 hryvnias.
This was reported to the media on June 11 by Yulia Tkach, a spokeswoman for the SBU department in the region.
According to her information, according to the case materials, the secretary requested 50 thousand hryvnias for a decision on the unsuitability of wounded soldiers for further military service.
For this amount, she guaranteed an accelerated and unhindered process of passing the military medical commission, as well as the adoption of a decision by the Military Medical Commission to grant the status of "unfit for military service". Later, the documents issued allowed for exclusion from military registration.
According to Yulia Tkach, the suspect was detained while receiving almost one thousand dollars from a wounded serviceman for a MMC conclusion on unfitness. She was informed of suspicion under part three of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Abuse of influence". The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
