Former Officers in Mykolaiv to Be Tried for Combat Pay Fraud

The commander of the material support battalion and the deputy commander of the military unit for logistics will be tried, accused of abuse of office.

This was reported by the BES and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense of the Eastern Region.

According to the case materials, between March 2023 and August 2024, the former deputy commander of the military unit, with the help of the former commander of the material support battalion, involved three servicemen in the construction and maintenance of his own house in Mykolaiv.

At the same time, the servicemen continued to receive pay for their service, although they were not performing their duties and were working as construction workers. In addition, according to the documents, these servicemen were allegedly in the combat zone in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, for which they were unjustifiably paid 100 thousand hryvnias per month.

The actions of officials caused losses to the state in the amount of 2.7 million hryvnias.

The two suspects are charged with abuse of official position, which resulted in grave consequences under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Earlier, SBI employees reported suspicions to the deputy commander of one of the military units deployed in Vinnytsia region. The investigation established that in 2022, the official unjustifiably issued combat payments to servicemen who were actually in the rear.

In addition, in Lutsk, a psychiatrist was fined 34,000 hryvnias for selling a false diagnosis. The corresponding sentence was passed by the Lutsk City District Court.
