Donetsk officer suspected of embezzlement in military vehicle repairs

An officer from a military unit in the Donetsk region is suspected of causing losses of 650,000 hryvnias on equipment repairs. According to the investigation, the man signed acts for car repairs that were not carried out.

The military unit concluded contracts for the routine repair of six vehicles. The official responsible for military equipment and weapons signed the certificates of work performed, which became the basis for payment for the contractor's services.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, in fact the cars were not repaired and were in the department the whole time. The entrepreneur received 650 thousand hryvnias without performing any work.
The officer was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (official forgery) and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of official position). He faces a sentence of up to 6 years in prison. The investigation of other officials of the military unit is ongoing.
The department added that the damages caused were fully compensated.
