Zakarpattia doctor sentenced for bribe over disability status
The Zakarpattian Regional Prosecutor's Office proved in court the guilt of one of the traumatologists from the village of Volovets, who was also a member of the medical advisory commission, in demanding illegal benefits for receiving disability.
He was detained in November 2023 in his office immediately after receiving an illegal benefit.
In court, the prosecutor proved that during a consultation with a woman who was trying to obtain disability due to her serious health condition, the doctor not only provided her with a list of documents, but also voiced the "main condition" - that she would have to pay for a positive decision.
The doctor demanded $500 for issuing a referral to a medical and social expert commission and "assistance" in establishing a permanent disability group II.
The Volovets District Court found a man guilty of receiving an unlawful benefit for himself by an official for committing certain actions (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). For the offense, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold positions in healthcare institutions for a period of three years and confiscation of all property.
We also reported that the court left Kudrytskyi in custody, reducing his bail.
