In Odessa, a 65-year-old doctor at a private clinic was reported on suspicion of extortion and receiving undue advantage.

According to the investigation, the doctor offered the 26-year-old man "assistance" in completing documents that would allow him to receive a deferment from conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He estimated his services at $7,000 and assured that through personal connections in medical institutions and the Central Committee of Ukraine, he would be able to obtain certificates of care for the man's allegedly sick mother.

It was planned that the money would be transferred in two stages: the first tranche immediately, the rest after receiving the documents. During a personal meeting, the doctor received 4,000 US dollars, after which he was detained by law enforcement officers.

The police added that the suspect was charged under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

We previously reported that the HACC extended the duties of the director of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".
