Zakarpattian doctors falsified disabilities for bribes
Another scheme of evading mobilization and illegal travel abroad by men of draft age has been dismantled in Zakarpattya.
As reported by the SSU Department in the Zakarpattya region, two officials from one of the region's medical institutions were exposed. For bribes of over $6,000, they helped draft evaders "evade" the draft on the basis of fictitious disability.
Thus, two ophthalmologists from one of the hospitals were exposed who, for money, falsified the medical histories of conscripts and provided them with fictitious hospitalization. The forgeries were then transferred to the center of medical and social expertise, where the clients were "confirmed with diagnoses" and assigned a disability group.
Subsequently, the "clients" could freely leave Ukraine. Law enforcement officers documented the receipt of $6,000 by one of the doctors involved in the scheme.
As part of the criminal proceedings, SSU officers conducted eight authorized searches in several medical institutions in the region, a medical and social examination center, and the residences of the suspects. Documents confirming criminal activity, as well as cash in foreign currency, were seized.
Both doctors have already been notified of the suspicion. They face up to five years in prison.
