Man detained in Vinnytsia over $33,000 disability bribery scheme
A 29-year-old man was detained in Vinnytsia on suspicion of accepting a bribe to influence an official's decision. According to investigators, he asked for $33,000 for "assistance" in registering a disability to be removed from military service.
This was reported on the website of the Vinnytsia regional police.
Law enforcement officers believe that the suspect undertook to influence officials of medical institutions and the expert team, whose decision affects the registration of a disability group.
In the future, this was to become the basis for exclusion from military registration.
The police said that on July 2, the man received $20,000 from a "client" as part of the agreed amount, after which he was detained by law enforcement officers in Vinnytsia.
A 29-year-old man is suspected of receiving a bribe to influence a decision-making process by an official, part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
