Zaporizhzhia officers to face trial over fake combat payments

In Zaporizhia, the head of a military unit and the head of the financial service will be tried on suspicion of abuse of office for the purpose of obtaining illegal benefits. According to the investigation, they established a "scheme" under which some staff employees received "combat" payments.
According to the investigation, the head of the military unit, together with the head of the financial service, made payments to staff employees for allegedly "performing combat missions." The head signed documents indicating the pseudo-performance of combat missions, and the chief entered this data into the settlement information.
The documents stated that the selected servicemen were allegedly fighting "at zero" in the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions, although in reality they did not leave their permanent deployment locations. Due to these machinations, staff officers close to the leadership managed to illegally receive almost 700 thousand hryvnias in "combat" payments
Both military officials will be tried for abuse of official position for the purpose of obtaining unlawful benefit for themselves or another individual, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 364, Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
If the defendants are found guilty, they could face up to six years in prison.
The court also confiscated their property. The issue of compensation for damages caused to the state is currently being resolved.
Earlier, the SAPO reported on bail for people's deputies in the "paid votes" case.
It also became known that NABU has completed the investigation into former Minister Chernyshov.
