HACC Reimposes Duties on Judge Savytskyi

The High Anti-Corruption Court has once again assigned duties to Serhiy Savytsky, a judge of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court of the Odessa region, in the case of creating a scheme for granting deferments and permits to travel abroad to men subject to military service.
As is known, the anti-corruption court arrested Judge Savitsky. As an alternative, he was given UAH 1.5 million in bail. This money was deposited and the judge was given the following obligations: not to leave the Odessa region without permission; to report a change in his place of residence; to refrain from communicating with a number of people; to hand over his foreign passports.
These duties have expired, but the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requested that they be reassigned to the suspect.
The prosecutor's motion to change the preventive measure by imposing obligations stipulated in Part 5 of Article 194 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine shall be granted. In connection with the application of a preventive measure in the form of bail to the suspect (Savytskyi – ed.), to impose obligations on him. The term of the obligations imposed on the suspect shall be determined at two months, but within the term of the pre-trial investigation

According to the investigation, judges of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court issued decisions on the alleged independent upbringing of a child by a father. These decisions were made for 3,500 US dollars without the participation of the parties, and gave men the opportunity to avoid mobilization and leave the country under the pretext of caring for the child. In total, investigators recorded 1,040 such decisions.
