The High Anti-Corruption Court extended until August 16 the term of office of the former chairman, judge of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court of the Odessa region, Valentyn Zaveryukha, in the case regarding the deferral scheme for men subject to military service.

As is known, the anti-corruption court arrested Zaveryukha. As an alternative, they set a bail of UAH 1.75 million for him. These funds were paid and he was released from custody. In compliance with the court's ruling, the judge is obliged: not to leave the Odessa region without permission; to report a change in his place of residence and place of work; to refrain from communicating with a number of persons; to hand over his foreign passports for safekeeping; to wear an electronic bracelet. The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requested that these obligations be extended.

To extend the term of the suspect (Zaverius) of the obligations stipulated in Part 5 of Article 194 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine for 2 months, but within the term of the pre-trial investigation

– the decision states.

The scheme consisted of judges of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court of Odessa Oblast issuing decisions on the alleged independent upbringing of a child by the father under fabricated circumstances. These decisions  allowed the men to avoid mobilization and leave the country  under the pretext of caring for the child. For $3,500, a decision was issued in one court session without the participation of the parties, granting them the right to travel abroad.
