HACC extended probe into case of Kivertsi City Council head

The High Anti-Corruption Court extended until January 24, 2026 the investigation period of the criminal proceedings on suspicion of the head of the Kivertsiysk City Council of the Volyn region, Oleksandr Kovalchuk, and the director of the Lutsk enterprise "Spetskomuntech" Mykhailo Bukharov, in embezzlement of UAH 6.05 million.
This decision was recently made by the HACC.
The motion of the detective of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is granted. The term of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is extended by up to 9 months, i.e. until January 24, 2026.
As is known, the Prosecutor General's Office transferred the case of Kovalchuk and Bukharov from the Bureau of Economic Security to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. According to the investigation, Kovalchuk, in collusion with Bukharov, concluded a supply contract for a total amount of UAH 10.3 million, which led to the embezzlement of funds of the Kivertsi territorial community in the amount of UAH 6.05 million. It concerned the purchase of two used Renault Premium fuel trucks at an inflated cost.
