The High Anti-Corruption Court has extended until August 21 the investigation into the case of the embezzlement of UAH 141 million on the "green" tariff, in which the former Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Rostyslav Shurma, was suspected.

The motion is granted. The term of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is extended to seven months, i.e. until August 21, 2026 inclusive.

– the decision states.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO have uncovered a scheme to embezzle funds from "green" tariff payments by commercial energy generating enterprises in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region for over UAH 141 million. Among the suspects is former Deputy Head of the President's Office Rostyslav Shurma.

According to the investigation, in 2019-2020, the former deputy of the Donetsk regional council, together with his brother, took control of a number of enterprises that produced electricity from alternative sources. In the territory of the Vasylivka district of the Zaporizhzhia region, the defendants in the case built solar power plants with a total capacity of about 60 MW and concluded contracts with the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer" for the sale of electricity at a "green" tariff.

It is noted that after the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and the occupation of part of the region, the solar power plants lost contact with the United Energy System of Ukraine, were damaged, and the personnel were evacuated.

The investigation found that the reporting contained knowingly inaccurate data on the generation volumes and technical readiness of the stations, in particular during periods of complete power outages. The funds received were withdrawn through related companies, and the total amount of losses caused to the state is UAH 141.3 million.

Rostislav Shurma is a suspect in the EBK database.

We previously reported that Shurma refused to return to Ukraine in the NABU case.
