HACC sentences MP Marchenko to 2 years in prison image

On March 19, the HIgh Anti-Corruption Court found MP Lyudmila Marchenko and her assistant guilty of receiving $11.3 thousand for crossing the border and sentenced each to 2 years in prison.

By the court's decision, the people's representative was found guilty of committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She was sentenced to 2 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold positions in state authorities for a period of three years.

The court found her assistant guilty under the same articles and sentenced her to 2 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold positions in organizations whose activities are related to issuing permits for citizens to leave Ukraine for a period of three years.

As reported, the court's verdict becomes legally binding thirty days from the date of its announcement, unless it is appealed.

Lyudmila Marchenko is a figurehead of the EBK base.

As a reminder, the SAPO has referred the case of People's Deputy Lyudmila Marchenko to court. According to the prosecution, the deputy, together with her assistant Anastasia Kolesnyk, promised the citizen, in exchange for a monetary reward, to obtain a permit to travel outside Ukraine, as well as to enter relevant information into the Shlyakh information system.
