Anti-corruption court places MP Kuzminykh under house arrest

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has imposed a preventive measure on Serhiy Kuzminy, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party. The NABU and the SAPO suspect him of bribery.
The court sentenced People's Deputy Kuzminykh to 24-hour house arrest with the wearing of an electronic bracelet for a period of two months without the right to appeal the court's decision.
The SAPO prosecutor is asking the court to declare Kuzminykh a preventive measure in the form of detention without determining an alternative in the form of bail. The prosecutor also noted that Kuzminykh is deliberately delaying the case by his absence in order to run out of statutes of limitations.
Kuzminykh's lawyer stated that the prosecutor's request for detention must be preceded by permission from the Prosecutor General or an authorized person. The lawyer also stated that Serhiy Kuzminykh "did not know, did not take, did not open the package" containing the bribe.
The lawyer also stated that the defense “did not file a motion to waive the statute of limitations.” He also told the court that Kuzminykh, “while abroad, learned about the trial, did not hide, reported his absence in advance, and is proving his innocence.”
Let us remind you that Serhiy Kuzminykh is a person involved in the EBK base.
