HACC sentences ex-Volyn council deputy to 3.5 years

The High Anti-Corruption Court has sentenced former Volyn Regional Council deputy Valentyn Koshelnyk to 3 years and 6 months in prison for abuse of influence.
This was reported by the press service of the SAPO.
According to the investigation, the former deputy promised, in return for a monetary reward, to "assist" a citizen in purchasing a land plot in one of the communities of the Volyn region for the subsequent creation of a waste disposal enterprise.
The court found him guilty of receiving undue advantage for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform local government functions (Part 2, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison with a three-year ban on holding positions in state and local government bodies.
The court ordered the former deputy to be taken into custody before the verdict becomes final. The verdict can be appealed within 30 days.
