HACC approves plea deal with ex-MP Demchak

The HIgh Anti-Corruption Court approved a plea agreement concluded with former MP Ruslan Demchak in the case of illegally receiving compensation for renting housing in Kyiv when he had a house near the capital.
This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. Although the report did not mention the name, according to "Word and Deed" and the website of the Judicial Power of Ukraine, it is Demchak.
The court found Demchak guilty of abuse of office and sentenced him to 3 years in prison with a 1-year probationary period. He was also fined 17,000 hryvnias and banned from holding public office for a year.
In addition, the former People's Deputy reimbursed the state almost 800 thousand hryvnias for the entire period of using the hotel room, of which more than 225 thousand were losses within the framework of criminal proceedings.
Additionally, he pledged to transfer 2 million hryvnias in charitable assistance to the account of the United24 project for the purchase of armored ambulances by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO reported Ruslan Demchak in absentia about suspicion, since his whereabouts were unknown. According to the investigation, during his tenure as a people's deputy, he illegally received compensation for housing in the capital, while using a house registered to his father in the village of Kryukivshchyna near Kyiv.
Demchak is charged with offenses under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
