HACC reduced bail for ex-deputy justice minister

The High Anti-Corruption Court has changed the bail amount set for former First Deputy Minister of Justice Natalia Bernatska, whom NABU and SAPO suspect of involvement in the embezzlement of over UAH 54 million from the state budget, the so-called "Golden Mandarin Oil" case, from UAH 6 million to UAH 900,000.
Earlier, the court imposed a preventive measure on Bernatskaya in the form of a 7 million UAH bail with the imposition of obligations. This amount was paid for her. Later, the court reduced the bail amount to 6 million UAH. However, the defense lawyer again filed a motion to reduce the bail.
The motion is partially granted. The preventive measure in the form of bail, applied to the suspect (Bernacka – ed.) in criminal proceedings, is changed in terms of the amount of bail, namely: the suspect’s bail amount is reduced to UAH 900,000. The motion is denied in the remaining part. The decision is not subject to appeal.
The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office filed an appeal against this decision. However, the Appellate Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine refused to open proceedings on his appeal, since the decision to reduce the bail was not subject to appeal.
Let us remind you that Natalia Bernatska is a person involved in the EBK database.
We also reported that the HACC extended the detention of Roman Zheliznyak, the former head of the production structural unit of the Cherkasy Rail Repair and Mechanical Plant of the branch of the Center for Repair and Operation of Rail Vehicles of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, and reduced the bail to UAH 5 million .
