Supreme Court Upholds Kovbel’s Verdict

The Supreme Court left unchanged the verdict, which found Maksym Kovbel, a judge of the Vasylkivskyi City District Court of Kyiv Region, guilty of false declaration, but released him from liability due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
As is known, the HACC found Kovbel guilty of false declaration and sentenced him to a fine of UAH 44,200. At the same time, he was released from punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court left this verdict unchanged. Therefore, the defense filed a cassation appeal.
The cassation appeal with additions of the defense lawyer acting in the interests of the convicted person (Kovbel) shall be dismissed, and the verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court of February 5, 2024 and the ruling of the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of December 17, 2024 regarding (Kovbel) shall be left unchanged.
