Zelenskyy Strips Trukhanov of Citizenship

President Volodymyr Zelensky has stripped Ukrainian citizenship of individuals confirmed to have Russian citizenship. According to media sources, these include Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, former People's Deputy Oleg Tsarev, and ballet dancer Sergei Polunin.
As noted, the relevant decrees were signed by the President of Ukraine on October 14. At the same time, Zelensky himself announced on social networks that he had signed a decree regarding persons who have confirmed Russian citizenship. He did not specify who the decree specifically applies to.

At the same time, the day before, a petition to the president demanding to terminate the Ukrainian citizenship of Odessa Mayor Trukhanov gained the 25,000 votes needed for Zelensky's consideration in less than a day. The author of the appeal argued that journalists had repeatedly published materials about Trukhanov's alleged Russian citizenship.
In turn, Trukhanov denied widespread information about his alleged citizenship of the aggressor country.
