Mykolaiv road company director suspected of embezzling public funds

In Mykolaiv, the director of a road construction company is suspected of embezzling money during road repair work. According to the investigation, he signed documents with false information, and the work was not completed in full. The amount of damage is 581 thousand hryvnias.
This was reported on July 22 by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region.
According to police, the head of the contracting organization knew that the asphalt concrete pavement had not been repaired in full, and the work performed did not comply with the project and state building codes. Despite this, he signed the work acceptance certificate with false information that the repairs had been completed in full. After that, money was transferred to the company's account for the repairs, the report says.
Based on the results of the inspections and expert research, the police found that the perpetrator caused damage to the community of more than 581 thousand hryvnias through his criminal actions.
The man was informed of suspicion under the articles: "Appropriation and embezzlement of another's property through abuse of official position by an official, committed in wartime conditions" and "Preparation and issuance by an official of knowingly false official documents."
The sanctions of the articles provide for up to eight years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years. Currently, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of bail for the suspect, the press service added.
We also reported that the court left the former chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council, Golovka, in pretrial detention.
