Ex-Brovary DSA head accused of smuggling men abroad

The former head of the Brovary DSA from the Kyiv region is suspected of organizing the illegal departure of men abroad under the guise of volunteers.
This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Persons who crossed the state border did not bring humanitarian aid to Ukraine, or declared a small amount of it in order to avoid liability for unjustified departure.
According to law enforcement officials, the head of the charitable foundation and the former head of the Brovary Regional State Administration in 2022–2024 are involved in the scheme of illegal travel abroad. At that time, this position was held by Volodymyr Maybozhenko, who was fired after a high-profile traffic accident.
It is noted that the data of those liable for military service as volunteers was entered into the "Shlyakh" system. Allegedly, they import military ammunition, drones, food, etc.
The SBU added that over 100 people managed to use the "service" worth up to $2,000 during the year.
Based on the collected evidence, the defendants were informed of suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 114-1 — obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations;
- Part 3 of Article 332 — illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine.
The court has currently chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention.
We previously reported that the Supreme Court of Ukraine extended the arrest of a person involved in the case of the mayor of Mukachevo.
