Ex-Psychiatric MSEC Head Suspected of Corruption
The 51-year-old former head of the psychiatric MSEC is suspected of abuse of influence combined with extortion. Investigators believe he "resolved issues" regarding the unfitness of men for military service.
This was reported by the SSU press service on August 7. According to its data, the man demanded and received an advance payment of 6,500 US dollars from the "client" for a "turnkey" solution to the issue.
This amount included the entire complex of illegal services: medical examinations, several fictitious hospitalizations in a psychiatric hospital, including with the groundless involvement of ambulance crews, the establishment of a fictitious psychiatric diagnosis, assistance in obtaining the “necessary” conclusion of the Military Commissariat for Military Service, and ultimately exclusion from military registration.
To implement this scheme, the former official used his corrupt connections in healthcare institutions and the TCP, which he managed to establish during his work at the MSEC.
Also, using his special knowledge as a psychiatrist, the businessman provided the evader with constant advice on how to behave in order to give the impression of a mentally ill person, including advice not to wash, not to shave, not to cut their hair, etc.
During the investigation, falsified medical documents were seized, as well as money, among which were identified banknotes previously given to the dealer by a client.
The doctor faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
