Khmelnytskyi Policeman to Face Trial for Soliciting Bribe
The former deputy chief of the investigative police department will be tried in Khmelnytskyi region for extorting an illegal benefit.
This is reported by the Khmelnytskyi Prosecutor's Office.
The prosecutors of the Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor's office have sent an indictment to the court against the deputy chief of the investigative department of the district police department of the National Security Service in the Khmelnytskyi region on the fact of demanding and receiving an illegal benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the investigation, after receiving information about a criminal proceeding based on the fact of a fight between two acquaintances, the policeman had an intention to obtain an illegal benefit.
The law enforcement officer summoned the man, about whom the complaint was received, for a conversation and began to convince him that he would be held criminally liable.
However, giving him $1,000 might "fix the situation."
After receiving this amount, the police officer was exposed and arrested.
He was remanded in custody with the possibility of bail in the maximum amount of UAH 242,000, which the suspect took advantage of.
Also, in the course of the investigation, the police officer was removed from his post, and as a result of the official investigation, he was dismissed from the police force.
We will remind you that in Lviv, the head of a medical institution was fired because of a bribe from a doctor.
