HACC Convicts Accomplice in Ex-Prosecutor’s Case
The High Anti-Corruption Court found Serhiy Levin guilty in absentia of aiding and abetting in obtaining unlawful benefit. Recently, the proceedings against the former head of the Kirovohrad Oblast Prosecutor's Office department, Svitlana Klyukina, were closed in this case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
(Lyovin) to find him guilty of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 27 Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and to impose a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 6 years, with deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational and managerial or administrative and economic functions at enterprises of state, municipal and private ownership, imprisonment for 3 years and with confiscation of all property owned by him
The HACC also collected UAH 110,240 of the bail paid for Levin as state revenue.
The verdict can be appealed within 30 days to the Appeals Chamber of the HACC.
Svetlana Klyukina is a figurehead of the EBK base.
According to the prosecution, in 2016, Svetlana Klyukina, head of the procedural management department of the Kirovohrad region prosecutor's office, with prior consent from an individual named Serhiy Levin, demanded and received an illegal benefit in the amount of $6,800 for withdrawing an appeal in a criminal case. In addition, detectives established the fact of forgery and theft of official documents.
We also previously reported that the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered the National Anti-Corruption Bureau to find and bring to court one of the witnesses in the criminal proceedings against the former head of the Department for Defense Work and Interaction with Law Enforcement Agencies of the Volyn Regional State Administration, Valentyn Sushik, for abuses.
